Tredwell’s- Positively Perfect Pre-Theatre Dining

Located slap bang wallop in the middle of the hustle and bustle of theatreland, you’ll find Tredwell’s, the latest culinary offering from top chef Marcus Wareing (of Masterchef fame). A mere hop skip and a jump from either Covent Garden or Leicester Square tubes, this joint is PERFECT for a slap up munch before running to the theatre, and I’ll tell you what, it’s bloody easy on the old purse strings too.

Last week, myself and a couple of other lovely bloggers were invited down to sample their new Tick Tock menu for pre or post theatre (which I really enjoyed the name of, given that I’m in Peter Pan at the moment…naughty old crocodile). So,  arm in arm with West End Wilma and Official Theatre we nestled down to enjoy some TOP GRUB. We kicked off with a round of cocktails, because we are grown-up and civilised (HA). I can thoroughly recommend the Gin Gimlet, a FRESH mix of gin, cardamon, green tea and lime- perfect for those who don’t like their beverages super sweet.

AND THEN TO THE SCOFF!

So, the Tick Tock menu is available before 6.30pm and after 10pm and costs a mere £20 for three courses. WHAT A BARGAIN. To start, I tucked into Chicken Liver Mousse with Bacon Jam (I mean, that’s the bit that really sold it to me to be honest. JAM OF BACON.) all mopped up with some lovely toasted sourdough. Creamy and cracking and served in a lovely little individual jar. And also BACON JAM.

Tredwell’s prides itself on modern London cuisine with a focus on British produce, and ne’er did this ring more true than in our serving of Pork Belly. Buttery soft with a sprinkling of crispy crackling on top, the belly cut was perched atop a deliciously spicy chorizo jam (really into this meat jam thing guys) and flanked by creamy mash and sweet sweet apple sauce. GREAT.

For the dessert I went MAVERICK and chose from the full menu. Both options on the Tick Tock were tempting as fuck but I was wooed by the promise of warm salted caramel with chocolate and chocolate cornflakes. It tasted a lot better than this picture looks. Sorry huns, but I was in the clutches of the delicious wine by then.

The place is full of lovely little touches, like the lovely copper water decanters above, and what with all the dark wood, gleaming green ceramic tiling and twinkly lights, it felt jolly festive indeed.

The full a la carte menu is a little bit pricey for me in my struggling actor’s opinion, but the Tick Tock menu is absolutely cracking value for such delicious and well portioned food. Possibly my FAVOURITE new pre-theatre haunt. If only for the meat jams. In fact, next time I go I’m just going to ask for a whole plate of those and a spoon. YUM.
